Wicklow Hills, known as the "Garden of Ireland," offers a variety of stunning places to visit, each rich in natural beauty and historical significance. Here are some that we will visit during the tour:

Glendalough Valley

Famous for its early mediaeval monastic settlement founded by St. Glendalough is a glacial valley renowned for its two beautiful lakes and ancient ruins, including a round tower, church ruins, and Celtic crosses.

Powerscourt Estate

This magnificent estate features one of the most beautiful gardens in Ireland, complete with a waterfall, walled gardens, and scenic walking trails.

Lough Tay and the Sally Gap

Often featured in films, Lough Tay, also known as the Guinness Lake, is stunning, especially when viewed from the Sally Gap, one of the most picturesque crossroads in Wicklow mountains.

Wicklow Mountains National Park

This is the largest national park in Ireland, covering part of the Wicklow mountain range. It offers numerous walking trails, wildlife viewing opportunities, and the chance to explore the natural beauty of the Irish countryside.

Bray to Greystones Cliff Walk

This coastal walk provides breathtaking views of the Irish Sea and the Wicklow coastline and is a perfect activity for nature lovers and hikers.

Avoca Village

Famous for its handweaving mill, the oldest in Ireland, Avoca is a charming village where you can learn about traditional crafts, enjoy quaint cafes, and explore local shops.

Boyne Valley

The Boyne Valley in Ireland is a region rich in history and natural beauty. Here are some key places we will stop by:

Newgrange

One of the most famous prehistoric sites in Europe, Newgrange is a Neolithic passage tomb built about 5,200 years ago. It's particularly known for the winter solstice illumination of its passage and chamber.

Hill of Tara

Once the ancient seat of power in Ireland, the Hill of Tara is an archaeological complex that dates back to the Neolithic era. It features several ancient monuments and, according to tradition, was the seat of the High King of Ireland.

Trim Castle

This Norman castle, the largest of its kind in Ireland, was built in the 12th century. Its impressive ruins dominate the landscape and offer a glimpse into mediaeval Ireland’s history.

Battle of the Boyne Site

The site of the 1690 battle which was a turning point in Irish history. There’s also a visitor centre that offers insights into the significance of this battle in European and Irish history.

Monasterboice

An early Christian settlement known for its impressive high crosses and one of the best examples of a round tower in Ireland. The site also contains a well-preserved cemetery, church ruins, and a sundial.

Loughcrew Cairns

A group of Neolithic passage tombs dating back to 3000 BC, these ancient tombs are lesser-known but equally fascinating as Newgrange, featuring significant megalithic art.

Mellifont Abbey

The first Cistercian abbey in Ireland, founded in 1142, Mellifont Abbey features beautiful ruins that give insight into the monastic life of the time.

Each of these sites offers a unique window into the past, from ancient times through the Middle Ages and into more recent history, making the Boyne Valley a must-visit for anyone interested in Ireland’s rich cultural heritage.

Dublin Easter Rising Tour

The Dublin Easter Rising Tour takes you through key sites that played significant roles in the historic 1916 Easter Rising, a pivotal event in Irish history leading to the country's independence. Here are some important we visit:

General Post Office (GPO)

The GPO on O'Connell Street was the headquarters of the Easter Rising leaders. It's one of the most iconic symbols of the rebellion, where the Proclamation of the Irish Republic was read.

Kilmainham Gaol

This former prison is where many of the Easter Rising leaders were executed. Today, it serves as a museum and offers a poignant look into the events that followed the uprising.

St. Stephen’s Green

The park was occupied by the Irish Citizen Army during the Rising. It's a peaceful green space now, but its history during that week in 1916 was anything but.

Dublin Castle

Seen as the heart of British rule in Ireland, Dublin Castle was a key strategic location during the Rising. The castle's complex history is essential to understanding British-Irish relations.

Moore Street

The final headquarters of the Rising's leaders after the evacuation of the GPO. The area provides insights into the closing stages of the rebellion.

Boland’s Mill

The site was a stronghold for Eamon de Valera’s battalion during the Rising and played a significant role in the week's events.

Richmond Barracks

Many of the rebels were held here after the surrender, before being transferred to Kilmainham Gaol. It offers a deeper understanding of the aftermath of the Rising.

Exploring these sites provides a deeper appreciation of the complexity, tragedy, and significance of the Easter Rising in Ireland’s fight for independence. The tour is not just about visiting places but also about understanding the hopes, struggles, and sacrifices of those who played a part in this defining moment of Irish history.
